The Year of Change

24 Mar

In July, Josh and I will have been married for 5 years. In August, we will have known each other 8 years. In those 8 years we have continually sought to do the Lord’s will in our lives. When we first started dating I told Josh that I would support him 100% but that he needed to know that I was called to do mission work and that no matter what he did I would also feel that I was needed in the nations. Since that time, I went to India, we went to China and Africa. We also went to Alaska and Avoca, TX. God has been doing some work in me the past few years, he has been clarifying his plan for my lives. While Africa is a place that will always be on my heart, God has taught me that wherever I am is my mission field.

“Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”  Psalm 96:3

I am called to declare his glory and his marvelous deeds, how is this melting pot of America not the best place to start. I hope that God will choose to send us overseas many more times in our future but for now he has chosen to send us somewhere a little more local.

 georgetown, tx

In June, Josh and I will be relocating to Georgetown, TX.  Josh will be the High School and Guys Student Minister at Crestview Baptist Church.   God has shown us that this is our next mission field. I do not know God’s plans, but I believe  the words in Jeremiah 29:11.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I believe that God has plans to prosper us and in turn we will bring glory to him. His plans are always perfect. His timing is always perfect.

Speaking of perfect timing, sometimes God’s timing is to remind us that he is perfectly under control.  I titled this blog The Year of Change because not only are we moving but God has decided to provide us with a miracle blessing.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. ” James 1:17

Baby w psalm

We are expecting our little bundle of joy the end of September/beginning of October.

God is showing us every day that as long as we allow him he will take charge of our lives. Honestly, sometimes it is hard for me. Sometimes I want to tell God that my way, my plan is much better than his, that having a baby and moving to a new town and starting a new job just don’t make sense.  But then I stop and I look at the past 8 years. I see where he has already brought us and I know. I know the peace that surpasses understanding.

I know that it has been a long time since we have blogged on this page. I can’t promise to do any better because I really don’t know what the future holds. But I do promise that when God gives me words he wants me to share I will share them.

I hope today that you will see that it is okay to throw out your plans, to trust in your Creator that he created you for a purpose.

God Bless you and thank you for reading.
